When I plug in my USB Cable to the FT-991, the radio powers off
Cause/Symptom:
Radio powers off when USB cable is plugged in.
Solution:
Check your Power supply ground, The ring on the power supply ground post terminal may have come out or has gotten loose. It is getting ground from the USB connection which can cause radio failure.

Of course this is a design flaw. The USB ground should not be the same as the power supply ground. The systems should be totally isolated, otherwise you can get ground loops between everything in the shack and put high voltage on the chassis - all you need is a faulty 110 volt outlet - but even if its not faulty different plugs and/or different voltage drops to ground can damage your equipment.
